What a PSA population can tell you
A PSA population report records how many graded copies are represented at each PSA grade. The PSA 10 count is often the first number collectors notice, but the rest of the grade distribution adds important context.

PSA 10 population versus total PSA population
Two cards can have the same PSA 10 population but very different overall graded populations. A card with 50 PSA 10s out of 100 total graded copies has a different distribution from a card with 50 PSA 10s out of several thousand graded copies.
RareAlert uses that relationship in its Low Gem Rate view, where qualifying cards are compared by the share of PSA 10 copies in the total PSA population.
Use grade-by-grade counts, not only the top grade
Looking across PSA 10, PSA 9, PSA 8, and other recorded grades can help show where the graded copies are concentrated. RareAlert card pages keep those counts together so a collector can inspect the distribution rather than relying on a single top-grade number.
Find the correct printing before comparing populations
Pokémon cards often have multiple printings or variants with similar names. A 1st Edition, Unlimited, Reverse Holo, error, or promotional version can have a separate population. RareAlert's card identity fields help distinguish those records before you interpret the numbers.
