What “low pop” means in RareAlert
For the Low Pop Gems view, RareAlert focuses on eligible holo cards released in 2020 or earlier whose PSA 10 population is between 0 and 100 copies. The year cutoff helps avoid treating recently released cards as scarce simply because relatively few copies have reached PSA so far. The view is a discovery filter, not a claim that every card shown is objectively rare or valuable.
The card's total graded population and the available PSA, CGC, and BGS grade counts remain visible so the low PSA 10 number can be interpreted in context.
Why total PSA population still matters
A PSA 10 population of 25 means something different when only 40 copies have been graded than when thousands of copies have been graded. Looking at the total PSA population helps distinguish a small top-grade count caused by limited grading activity from one that appears inside a much larger graded sample.
A low PSA 10 population can happen for different reasons
A small PSA 10 population may reflect grading difficulty, limited grading activity, collector demand, the age of a release, a particular printing, or other factors. Population alone does not tell you which explanation is correct.
That is why RareAlert links the metric back to the card, set, edition, rarity, and variant instead of presenting a low-pop number without identity context.
Low population is different from low gem rate
A card can have few PSA 10 copies because few copies were graded at all. Another card can have hundreds of PSA 10s but still have a very low gem rate because its total graded population is enormous.

How to research a low-pop result
Open the card page and confirm the exact set, card number, edition, and variant. Then compare the PSA 10 count with the total PSA population and the available CGC and BGS grade distributions. This helps keep a small headline population from being interpreted without the rest of the card record.
